Belle Poule
Tasting notes
Delicate and brilliant light salmon colour. Intense nose, showing red fruits notes and jammy black fruits flavours, that are confirmed on the palate later on. In the mouth the wine is fresh, still round, rich with a point of amyl. Long persistent finish.
Wine and meals
Cuisine with herbs and spices, grilled white meat, cured meat, such as prosciutto with melon and figs.

Hand-picked grapes.

Medals
In the last ten years the wines “ Château du Rouët” have obtained 22 medals at the Concours Général Agricole in Paris, as well as the Concours des Grands Vins de France in Mâcon,
notably 6 gold medals and 4 silver medals. At the Concours des Vinalies Nationales
(Union of Oenologists of France) 10 distinctions have been awarded.

The “Belle Poule” owes its name to the famous ship that had the honour of repatriating Napoleon’s remains, in 1840, from the island of Saint Helena.
Lucien Savatier, at the head of the Ironworks Shipyard in La Seyne sur Mer, expanded the vineyards to a considerable extent in 1888. He was entrusted with the task of breaking the “Belle Poule” Skeleton. Conscious of the historical value of this frigate, he preserved two of the doors of the cabin in which the emperor was kept. These doors still adorn the chapel of the Chateau du Rouët ...
